The lake borders the land of the Navajo, a people born to the desert. For centuries, the Navajo has lived among the tall buttes and red sands. Into his land came Lake Powell which he has woven into his pattern of ancient ways, and the land speaks to him of beauty and harmony.

Lake Powell is held within the canyon by the massive Glen Canyon Dam. Impressive in its silent strengths, the dam with its ten million tons of concrete, rises seven hundred ten feet from sandstone bedrock.

Glen Canyon was chosen as the site for the key dam of the Colorado River Storage Project for with a dam in Glen Canyon, the runoff from four states could be contrthe d, could be saved for periods of drought, could produce electrical power for the cities of the West, could make possible many water projects in the upper Colorado River Basin.

The Open Video Project is managed at the Interaction Design Laboratory,
at the School of Information and Library Science, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
